The Simiente Series

This is a series that seeks to celebrate the inherent materiality of ceramics through pieces that embrace their imperfect forms and rough texture. Each ceramic artwork reveals its heritage: the earth to which it belongs.​​​​​​​
Es una serie que busca reivindicar la materialidad propia de la cerámica a través de piezas que reclaman su forma imperfecta y su tacto agreste. Cada obra deja ver con lealtad de dónde provienen: la tierra a la que pertenecen.​​​​​​​

Every piece is unique in its design and creation. In an age of mass production, this uniqueness becomes a radical and necessary gesture; consequently, far beyond any technical reproducibility, each piece possesses its own identity and materiality.
Cada pieza es única en su forma y en su creación. Frente a tiempos de reproducción serial, lo singular se vuelve un gesto radical y necesario, por ende, lejos de toda reproductibilidad técnica, cada una posee su identidad y materialidad propia.

Where does the land end and form begin? Is there a boundary between the ground beneath our feet and the horizon we gaze upon? These are some of the questions raised by this series, which construct a poetic imaginary in which the ceramic work is transformed into landscape.
¿Dónde termina la tierra y empieza la forma? ¿Existe un límite entre el suelo bajo nuestros pies y el horizonte que contemplamos? Estas son algunas de las preguntas que esta serie propone y que construyen un imaginario poético en donde la obra cerámica se transforma paisaje.

With its depths, crevices, contours and fractures, the ceramic is essentially a fragmented landscape in its own way. A seed, a nest, a crucible born of the ground.
Entre sus honduras, grietas, relieves y fracturas, la cerámica es esencialmente un paisaje fragmentado en sí mismo. Una semilla, un nido, un crisol que nace de la tierra.

Far from any functional or decorative obligation, each piece quietly embodies the soil from where it originates. In these artworks and in their inherent materiality, they are both object and subject: a sensitive geology, stony forms, telluric representations that are both contained and overflowing, revealing their true form.
Lejos de alguna obligación funcional o decorativa, en cada pieza descansa en silencio el suelo del que proviene. En ellas y en su materialidad inherente, es objeto y sujeto: una geología sensible, cuerpos pétreos, representaciones telúricas que se contienen y se desbordan develando así su forma.

The Simiente Series offers a perspective in which the boundaries between representation and matter disappear, where each piece, in its own poetic way, emerges as a fragment of the ground, remaining an act of revelation and identity.
La serie Cerámica Simiente ofrece una mirada en la cual se desdibujan los límites entre la representación y la materia, en donde cada pieza, en su poética, nace como un fragmento de la tierra permaneciendo como un acto de revelación e identidad.

The series is not afraid to be genuine and true to itself; where mistakes are not corrected but honoured, and it is this difference that gives it its true value. The ceramics do not represent the landscape: they are the incarnation of it.
Es una serie que no teme ser genuina y leal así misma, en donde el error no se corrige, se honra, y en esa diferencia radica su valor. La cerámica no representa al paisaje: lo encarna.
